AMERICA'S ARMY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1.   I GET AN ERROR OR A GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT WHEN I TRY TO LAUNCH OR WHILE PLAYING THE GAME. WHAT DO I DO?
Answer:
First, click on the Submit Report button on the GPF window. This will send a copy of the error message to the America's Army developers so they may help make the next version of the game better.

Second, check to make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements. You can look at the system requirements and check to see if your graphics card is supported by the game or not by click on the System Req. and Video links under the Windows FAQs section.

If your PC does meet the minimum requirements and your graphics card is supported, head over to the correct support forum at http://forum.americasarmy.com

Be sure to read any readme first sticky posts at the top of the appropriate forum before you make your post. Include your error message and a detailed description of what the game was going when that error appeared plus any other information as detailed by the readme first sticky post.
2.   I'M EXPERIENCING A BLACK SCREEN WHEN I LAUNCH AMERICA'S ARMY FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Answer:
This is most likely caused by your firewall software. Current releases of Windows include Firewall software that protect against potential unwanted access over the internet. By default, the Firewall software installed on your computer must know about applications that require internet access.

The firewall software has paused the game process and is requesting your confirmation to unblock the program and allow access to the internet; however, the popup window may not be displayed over the full screen game display.

To correct this, you will need to manually add the newly patched game executable (ArmyOps.exe) to the unblocked application list for your firewall.

Alternately, you can quickly switch the game from full screen to windowed mode by pressing Alt+Enter immediately upon startup (before the firewall software pauses it), and interact with the firewall popup normally to unblock the game executable.

This problem has been identified on Microsoft Windows standard Firewall, McAfee Personal Firewall 7 and ZoneAlarm firewalls.

To unblock America’s Army on your Microsoft Windows standard Firewall (included with Windows XP Service Pack 2), open the Windows Control Panel by clicking the Start Button then selecting Control Panel, and then click the Security Center icon. Once inside the Security Center, choose to manage settings for Windows Firewall (this is near the bottom of the window). Click the Exceptions tab, then click the Add Program… button. Finally, locate your America’s Army game executable (by default it is located at C:Program FilesAmerica’s ArmySystemArmyOps.exe).

12.   I'M GETTING A "LOW DISK SPACE ON DRIVE C ERROR" WHEN INSTALLING THE GAME.
Answer:
Currently, America’s Army requires approximately 3.6GB of free disk space in order to install the latest patch (2.7GB of which is for temporary files that are deleted once the installation has completed). If you have less than this required amount of free disk space you have the ability to specify a temp directory on another drive.

To do so, please take the following steps:

1) Create a folder named “Temp Folder” on a drive other than C:

2) After you have created that folder, right click on “My Computer” and select “Properties”

3) Click the “Advanced” Tab

4) Click “Environment Variables”

5) Under “User variables for ” select TMP (exactly as listed) which is under the Variable column and click “Edit”

6) At this time we recommend that you copy and paste the current variable value into Notepad (or your preferred text editor) so you will be able to revert the changes once you have completed this process

7) Once you have copied and pasted the default value, enter the path of the “Temp Folder” that you created (i.e. D:Temp Folder)

8 ) Click “OK” in the Edit User Variable window and then click “OK” in the Environmental Variables window

9) Now run the America’s Army patch

10) Once the patch process has completed, the files should be deleted from the “Temp Folder” and you can revert the changes made in the Environmental Variables by following steps 2 – 8 once again.
